Reel Reality Fentanyl Awareness Film Contest
Deadline for Submission: Thursday, October 30, 2025 at 5 p.m.
Film Screening and Award Ceremony: Starlight Terra Vista 10701 Town Center Dr, Rancho Cucamonga, CA 91730

Your Voice Can Save a Life
Thank you for being part of this powerful movement. By creating your video, you are not only raising awareness but also giving a voice to a crisis that affects families, friends, and entire communities. Your work has the power to spark a conversation, change a mindset, and even save a life.

What We’re Looking For
The best videos are bold, creative, and emotionally powerful. We want to feel something when we watch your film—sadness, hope, urgency, or inspiration. Don’t be afraid to take risks with your storytelling. Show us the real impact of fentanyl in a way that only you can.
     • Emotional impact: Help people understand how fentanyl affects real lives - friends, family, and communities.
     • Clear message: Communicate the dangers of fentanyl and how to prevent overdoses.
     • End with a message: Include a short slide at the end that shows how Narcan saves lives and where people can get help locally.
     • Creativity & originality: Be bold. Use your own style—whether that’s dramatic, poetic, or raw and real.
     • Quality & effort: Smooth editing, clear audio, and visuals that enhance your message.

Why It Matters
Winning videos will be played as trailers in local movie theaters, reaching thousands of people in your community. Your message could inspire someone to act, to speak up, or to get help. The winning school will receive a scholarship award to support its students and video production program. The total award will be sent directly to the school, and the school administration will determine how the funds are distributed between student scholarships and the video/media program.

You Are Part of Something Bigger
This isn’t just a contest—it’s a movement. Every video submitted is a step toward saving lives. Thank you for using your creativity and your voice to stand against fentanyl. We can’t wait to see the impact you will make.

Film Categories

Fentanyl Doesn’t Care. But We Do
Fentanyl doesn’t care that you are a parent, a student, or someone experimenting with drugs for the first time. Fentanyl takes lives with no remorse. This category is about showing how fentanyl can affect anyone, at any age, regardless of their status in society or their role in life.

Interview - Personal Stories
Share impactful stories from people’s lived experience. These interviews should let viewers connect with someone’s personal experiences, challenges, and insights. The goal is to inspire others by showing real-life journeys and lessons learned.

Prevention and Awareness - Knowing Why
This category is for films that explain why understanding and preventing issues is so important. Topics could include things like mental health, substance use, or staying aware. These films should help viewers learn more, think ahead, and take action to avoid problems before they start.

“It Can Happen to Anyone” - Addressing Stigma
Films in this category aim to address the stigma around fentanyl use and talking about the dangers of overdose with friends and family. Submissions should feature real life conversations individuals can have with others or address the ways students can break the stigma in their schools regarding the dangers of fentanyl.
